Did we just see Tarzan?

P/ That was awesome Chwis. Weally wicked. I didn’t think that you’d do that. After Lynn Valley where we were hanging on to the sides and edging across this was so, so cool.

C/ You underestimate the power of the moose Polie. Rising to meet the challenge and crushing our fears.

Chris beamed having just stopped everyone in their tracks as he launched himself across the Capilano Suspension Bridge, a considerably longer bridge than the Lynn Valley bridge. Using the initial drop of the bridge he had succeeded in picking up sufficient speed to take himself up the incline. Fortunately we had arrived early in the morning and beat the crowds that would gather later. The wind was minimal so the sway was hardly noticeable meaning none of us needed to hold the cables on to the sides. And by running headlong from one side to the other Chris had avoided looking down into the gorge below which was quite an impressive drop.

C/ All this on short legs Polie. Are you now a believer?

P/ Chwis, what can I say. Just wespect.

The Capilano Suspension Bridge was built in 1889. To span the gorge. It is quite the engineering feat considering the length and the means available when it was built. In more recent years other attractions have been added to include a treetop walkway, trails and a walkway out over a considerable fall and the crowds are drawn in. 

It’s not inexpensive and we managed to cover the whole area in about 2 hours but it’s one of those things you feel you ought to do especially if Lynn Canyon impressed you. Again, we had arrived just after it opened and had free range on everything and time to appreciate the trails but I imagine that by the middle of the day we would have begun not to appreciate things. The numbers were building even as we left.

P/ The awiel walkway was weally fun Wic.

W/ Yes Polie, and well built with the engineers striving to avoid damaging the trees.

C/ Please tell our followers how I traversed the walkway like Tarzan guys.

W/ Well not quite Tarzan Chris but, yes, you seem to be mastering your aversion to heights.

P/ Once again the trees impressed us. Their size and age.

Then we walked a trail marked with information and facts about the park and the woodland. I think we all felt small in the vastness of nature.

Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient laws of life.

As said, we left 2 hours after entering and avoided the crowds. Expensive but we definitely enjoyed ourselves.

P/. Not least by seeing Chwis wunning for all he was worth acwoss the suspension bwidge. I am glad I had my camerwer.
